Friday Flashback 11/22/13

WOW it is Friday again!

I have spent the last week on my sofa, with tea, and tissues.

This cold is really kicking my rear!

I am finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I hope.

But poor Kevin, well if I am getting rid of it, he is finding it.

We may be rotating shifts on the sofa.

Although I seriously doubt he will be watching Lifetime Movie Network!

Next Thursday is Thanksgiving and then, the highlight of the holiday season, (insert sarcastic tone here) Black Friday

Do you brave the masses and venture into the shopping craziness?

I did it once. I just about got beat up by an elderly gentleman with a big white beard. That was my first and last time.

I found out, after my close call with the Santa wannabe, that it is best to take backup.

That's OK.

I will stay home.

I can shop in my PJ's and the only back up I need is my dog waiting at my feet for crumbs from the cookies I am nibbling on!

Are you planning on heading out for the Black Friday sales?

Or do you prefer to do your shopping on Cyber Monday?

Since I have had this rotten cold, I missed a day on the blog. But here is what did happen on the blog this past week.

Twice Baked Pumpkin Stuffed Sweet Potatoes

Spinach Salad with Shrimp and Feta Cheese

Greek Turkey Pasta Salad

Roasted Garlic Twice Baked Potato Casserole

I have been a busy pinner this week though, so here are a few goodies I found to share.
Giant Ginger Cookies from Jens Favorite Cookies
Peppermint Mocha Fudge from Home Cooking Memories
Cranberry Apple Sticky Buns from Food Babbles
Roasted Green Beans & Potatoes with Bacon Vinaigrette from Mom's Test Kitchen

If you would like to see everything I have pinned this week, please follow my Pintrest boards

Coming this week....
Grandpa's Simple Stuffing
Pork Stew with Roasted Green Chilies
Pumpkin Spice Cake with Browned Butter Glaze

...just to name a few!

See you soon!!!

  1. That casserole looks so hearty and delicious to me.

We do Black Friday once about every five or six years. That's how long it takes us to work up our nerve to go again. And we've never bought a thing, we see the lines and know we're not going to wait in them, lol

  2. I haven't done a BF sale in probably 4 years, but I do have to head out this year. Hubby is really wanting an ipad for Christmas, so I will brave the crowds in hopes of saving a little cash on one :)

  3. I worked retail and got to break up fights and see the craziness so since I became a SAHM I refuse point blank to leave the house that day

  4. I am not sure with a newborn if I will venture out this year. I have shopped Black Friday for many years but not sure this year there is anything I need enough.

  5. I don't like shopping at any time of the year--I definitely do not like crowds-so NO you will not see me in the stores on Black (and blue) Friday!! Now Cyber Monday is a totally different story!

  6. I have to tell you, just looking at that picture, I get so much anxiety. I HATE shopping in crowds, which is why my Christmas shopping is already done. Phew.

  9. I am sorry you are not feeling well. I definitely do not shop when the stores open on Thanksgiving, I think it is horrible that they have started doing this to their employees. I also do not go out on Fridays - why when you can safely shop at home and save the gas. I just do not get it to be honest.

  10. Ugh! Poor you! I hope you feel better soon. I don't do Black Friday either. I went once and got so aggravated when people snatched things out of my hands and my buggy that I decided I don't need the hassle.

  12. No Black Friday for us this year. I have to work, and my hubby is not braving the crazy alone. We usually start out later in the day, and it is just a chance for us to hang out and get a meal that does not involve turkey. Great recipes.

  14. I will be going out on Thanksgiving Night to get some good sales.. My husband, kids and I moved away from the rest of the family, so I am not sure how festive I will feel. Missing home a lot right now, and I'm hoping shopping will make me feel better! I do Love Christmas!

  19. I've never participated in shopping on Black Friday. I am not really cut our for standing on long lines for hours or fighting with others who want to buy the same item. Having said that, I have heard you can get some great prices on that day.
