Marie Callender's Pot Pies bring the warmest comforts of the season wrapped together in a meal made to savor!

Winter is upon us my friends and, even though it is pretty mild here in Western Washington, I am craving comfort food like crazy! Soups, stews, anything thick, and hot, and creamy makes my heart sing. One of my favorite comfort foods is pot pie. I think a lot of that goes back to my childhood. I can remember my Mom making Marie Callender's Pot Pies for dinner, and I was soooo happy. I always looked forward to pot pie night. My favorite was always the chicken pot pie.

I still love pot pies just as much as an adult, but I have to admit I am not the best at making them. I tend to be a bit ummmm "crust challenged" and it is kind of a hit and miss as to whether it will turn out. Usually more miss than hit. So on the nights that my pot pie craving hits hard, I turn to my childhood favorite Marie Callender's pies. Plus, sometimes a food blogger just needs a night off ya know? Let Marie do the work, so I can kick up my feet in my fuzzy slippers and watch the boob tube for a bit.

My local Walmart makes it super easy for me when my cravings hit because they always have my faves in stock. Like I said, as a child, chicken pot pie was always my favorite. But now they have
Creamy Parmesan Chicken Pot Pie, Chicken Corn Chowder Pot Pie, Cheesy Chicken & Bacon Pot Pie, and Creamy Mushroom Chicken Pot Pie too! Holy cannoli Batman!! That's a lot of choices! I can tell you, I have worked my way through them and it is reallllllllly hard to pick a favorite. I think the Chicken Corn Chowder may have a slight lead right now, but they are all fabulous. There is just something about the homemade gravy, mixed vegetables and all white meat chicken within a golden flaky crust, each bite warms my soul!

When it comes to what to serve with my lovely pot pieliciousness, I always opt for a nice salad. With pears being in season, and oh so juicy and good, I knew immediately that they would be the perfect compliment. You have that rich and creamy goodness of the Marie Callender pie, paired with the peppery arugala, sweet pear, crunchy walnuts, and tangy goat cheese and lemon. YUM!! So spoil yourself. Pop a pot pie in the oven, whip up this tasty Winter Pear Salad, get into your comfiest jammies, and let yourself be taken away to comfort food heaven. I know I am sure planning to do just that thing!

  2. That salad looks fantastic! I'm pregnant and have loved pears over the past few months. Adding them to a salad makes the fruit appropriate for dinner paired with a yummy pot pie. #client
