Friday Flashback 8/2/13

There are times when I am so happy I moved to the Pacific Northwest and summer is definitely one of those times. The winters here can be cold, wet, and seemingly never ending, but the summers......oh yes!

I have really enjoyed my garden this year. It is the first time I have ever attempted container gardening, and there have been some challenges with it. I think I made a mistake planting 2 tomato plants per container, for some reason my chives are not so happy with me (maybe over crowding again), and my zucchini plants and the bees are evidently not on speaking terms, so I am having to hand pollinate them.

I have 2 growing right now, but when I had an in ground garden a couple years ago, I had more squash than I knew what to do with. One of my favorite recipes I used my home grown zucchini in was my Turkey Sausage Stuffed Zucchini Boats. The family went crazy over them and I have really been looking forward to making them again. Now I just have to wait for the zucchini to cooperate with me!!

My peppers however, especially the serranos, are growing like crazy!!

I am not sure what I am going to do with all of these serranos!!

Any ideas??

Just a few jalapenos, but they look nice and healthy.

The other fabulous perk to living where I do is the wildlife that lives all around us. In California we had your occasional possum in the backyard, but here in Washington I have a family of dear right out my front door!!

It is amazing and I am like a little kid every time I see them!

OK enough rambling about plants and wildlife. This is Friday Flashback so let's get down to it. This is what has been happening in my kitchen this past week.
