Lemony Broccoli Slaw

This bright, lemony slaw is a refreshing summer side dish, and is made light with the use of fat free Greek yogurt.

Are there certain flavors that just remind you of summer?

I know that lemon is one that always does for me. Just that bright citrus scent brings on images of sunshine and blue skies. All I have to do is smell a lemon and I am in a good mood. Anyone else like that? I have citrus scented hand soap, citrus scented body wash, citrus scented candles, citrus...well, you get the point.

Ever since summertime hit here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest the wheels in my head have been cranking overtime to come up with dishes to compliment whatever is being cooked on the grill. Plus they need to be dishes that require minimal use of the stove. 

I mean, we are grilling for goodness sake! Why would I want to heat up my kitchen? Seems kinda counter productive to me. I am lucky that my house stays pretty cool, but I am not going to push the issue if I don't have to!

I love the fact that this salad is made easier by using bagged broccoli slaw. If I don't have to chop and dice I will take it. Heck, it is summertime! No one wants to be inside any longer that they have to right? Unless of course they are making me another cool adult beverage, then by all means please go inside. I will be waiting for your right outside on the deck!

This slaw was a huge hit with the family. It is so light and bright, it really works great with grilled chicken, steak, or even burgers and dogs. It is the perfect summer side dish!

Lemony Broccoli Slaw

Lemony Broccoli Slaw


  • 2 12 ounce bags of Dole broccoli slaw
  • 1/2 cup non-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup low fat mayonnaise
  • 1 lemon, zest and juice
  • Kosher salt
  • Fresh cracked black pepper


  • In a large bowl whisk together the yogurt, mayo, lemon zest, and juice. Add the broccoli slaw and combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Yield: 8
Prep Time: 15 mins.
