Cookie Butter Puppy Chow #SundaySupper #GiftsFromTheKitchen

This week Sunday Supper is showing you how you can make the holidays extra special by creating some wonderful gifts from your kitchen.

One of the things I love to do at the holidays is make homemade gifts for my friends and family. I have gotten my kids involved in it with me going back to when they were little bitty. I always had them make homemade cards and gifts because I just felt they were more personal and helped them to realize that you don't have to spend money to make someone happy. To this day I treasure each and every little treasure they made me, and many of the ornaments they made still decorate my Christmas tree every year.

Slow Cooker Pumpkin Butter

I am a big fruit butter fiend. I mean like I could eat tons and tons of it! If it is a choice between jelly or jam, and fruit butter? Well, that really isn't a choice. I grew up eating my PB & J's with apple butter. Which I guess would technically make it a PB & B right? I would mix it into my oatmeal, smear it on my toast, and have even been known to top my ice cream with it. Yes, I will put it in/on just about anything to get my fruit butter fix!!

Cheesy Jalapeno Potato Cakes #SundaySupper

Put some zippity in your leftover mashed potato do-dah with these Cheesy Jalapeno Potato Cakes. Have them for breakfast with some salsa and a fried egg, or as a dinner side with sour cream and chives. Then make sure to check out the other fabulous leftover ideas from the Sunday Supper crew!

Today's Sunday Supper is hosted by the wonderful Jennie of The Messy Baker, and is about all things leftover. You know when your fridge is still stuffed with Thanksgiving goodies, and you just can't look at one more turkey sandwich? Wait, is that possible? Could there really be too many leftover turkey sandwiches? Hhmmm I think not, but there are always other terrific ways to enjoy those tasty leftovers and we are here to show them to you.

Bacon, Leek, and Artichoke Bread Pudding

I have really been enjoying the fall this year. Not that I hate the fall usually but, being a So Cal girl transplanted to the Pacific Northwest, when the days get gray and drizzly, the temps dive, and the sun is gone by 5 PM, it can kind of wear on a girl. Day dreams of warm sand between my toes and ocean waves crashing fill my head, and my mood can kind of falter.

But the last couple of years have been different. I don't know if it is because I am finally acclimating (It has only taken me 6 years!), or maybe it is my little deer herd that have adopted us as family and show up several times a day to peer into the windows hoping for some treats. I don't know. All I do know is that I have been in the best of moods (with a few detours thanks to the flu and allergies) and look forward to each and every day. WOW, I am starting to sound like one of those perky people that have a perpetual smile and are constantly saying "Have a nice day"? Ya, those are the people that I usually want to smack right about now! Maybe the aliens came and I am actually a pod person and not really me at all? AHH!

Creamy Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Silky smooth mashed potatoes with the hint of garlic made stress free by use of your slow cooker.

It seems that every year I start cooking Thanksgiving dishes earlier and earlier. A lot of it is because I obviously need to have dishes to share with you here on the blog. Some of it is because with the blending of families and dinners being held at other peoples homes rather than mine, I need to plan a few get togethers to make sure we get to see all of our kids and family over the holiday. But honestly, I think the main reason is because I just, well, I just love Thanksgiving food!

For this month's Secret Recipe Club I was assigned the blog Rainstorms and Love Notes, written by the adorable Ashley. She writes about food, life (you have got to check out her post about the time a dress broke her nose), DIY fun, and binge watching her favorite TV shows (I can totally relate since I watched 6 seasons of True Blood in a week when I had the flu). She is an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and lives in NC with her "semi" newlywed hubby and 3 of the cutest cats ever! Don't belive me? Check out her Instagram for pics that will make you say "Aaawwwwww".

Quick and Easy Dinner Rolls

These rolls are super simple! Trust me, you will have hot fluffy rolls on the table for dinner in no time flat!

Ever since the weather cooled and the leaves began to turn, I have been obsessed with baking. ME! The non-baker! Go figure. I seem to have been possessed by the spirit of Betty Crocker or something. It has been very strange. But whenever I start to think about what I want to get into the kitchen and make my mind goes to things like Pumpkin Cream Cheese MuffinsMini Pumpkin Hand Pies, and Pumpkin Bubble Bread with Cream Cheese Glaze. Well, it seems I have been a bit pumpkin obsessed as well, but that is another story.

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins

These little guys are the perfect bite of pumpkiny goodness coupled with the tang of  a cheesecake like center. It is like your mouth gets all happy with the moist pumpkin bread texture, and then BAM cheesecake!

So by now you aren't not surprised to see another pumpkin recipe on the blog. I don't have to go through the whole "'Tis the season" or "it is the perfect fall food", blah blah blah. I am addicted to punkin, there I said it! I just can't seem to get enough of it. I will come up with a recipe to make and, no sooner than I can get that one done, I am on to the next one. I barely give myself an opportunity to enjoy the treat I just made. Oh, I have it bad folks, I may need a pumpkinvention!

Beef and Mushroom Pot Pie #SundaySupper with @GalloFamily

This week the Sunday Supper family is coming together with the Gallo Family Vineyards to celebrate comfort. Both in the foods we eat, and helping those in need

When I think of fall, images of sitting by a crackling fire sipping cups of hot cocoa on a cool drizzly day, pots of soup, stew, or chowder simmering on the stove, and spending time with family and friends come to mind. In other words it is a time of comfort, pure and simple.

I can remember spending fall and winter nights at my grandparent’s house. We lived in Reno, and would get snow quite often, sometimes as early as October. On those chilly days, my grandmother would head to the kitchen and whip up some of the best soups and stews I have ever had. The smells that wafted through the house were insanely good and my little taste buds were anticipating, what I knew would be, a fantastic meal that would include her famous home baked bread. Ahhh my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Poblano Chicken

This Poblano Chicken is a wonderful weeknight meal for the family. Juicy chicken breast surrounded by a creamy flavorful sauce with just enough spice.

With the holidays fast approaching I have been stuck in pumpkin mode. Yes, my fall addiction, pumpkin. Oh, and pasta. Things that scream comfort to me and make me feel all warm and cuddly. What can I say, food makes me happy. Give me a big bowl of pasta like my Lightened-Up Fettuccini Alfredo or Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, my sofa, and a movie, and I am tickled pink! Forget the gray, damp Washington days, I have a big bowl of happiness. Yes!!

Honey Mustard Pork Chops with Rosemary and Garlic

I have been so focused on soups and pumpkin lately. In my defense, ummm helloooooo 'tis the season. Please, someone tell Kevin that! Just wait until cookie season starts Oy! Kevin will have a kitten. Well actually he will have a fistful of cookies, but he has kinda gotten used to have sweet treats around the house (all pumpkin favored mind you) so the complaining might be minimal. That is until he finds out that I have been baking all day so dinner will consist of sandwiches, and possibly reheated soup. Perfect for me, not so much for him.
