MORE KETO & LOW CARB GROUND BEEF RECIPES
Low Carb Cheesy Beef and Broccoli Rice Skillet | Low-Carb Italian Beef BakeCall it a senior moment I guess. I honestly thought I had posted it!
Once I realized that I hadn't gotten it on here for you I knew I needed to ASAP.
This is another one of the recipes I make that the entire family, low carb or not, loves and those are the kind of recipes I really love to bring to you.
I get so many emails from people telling me how hard it is to stay keto when the rest of their family isn't, and I get it. My daughter-in-law is kinda keto. More of an on again off again keto. But nobody else is even remotely interested in living la vida low carb with me. I think they all have visions of having to eat wacky food if they are "low carb" but that isn't true, and my goal is to prove that to them by making yummy keto recipes that, if I didn't tell them, they would never know are lacking in the carb department.
When I can get a thumbs up from the Mr, or my daughter, woohoooo I am on cloud 9!
That also lets me know that I can bring it to y'all and tell you that your family will love it too.
I mean, if it can make it through the Complainer and Miss Picky Pants, we have struck keto gold, my friends!
This is one of those recipes.
I made it and served it up and was met by no talking, just forks clanking on plates and lots of mmmmmmm.
Oh, and no leftovers.
Cue my happy foodie dance!
Serve this up with my Roasted Garlic Mashed Cauliflower and/or Cheesy Bacon Ranch Brussels Sprouts.

FAQS ABOUT KETO SALISBURY STEAKS WITH MUSHROOM GRAVY
Can I use another ground meat instead of ground beef? Yes, I do prefer ground beef with this recipe. But you can use any ground meat you prefer. Pork, turkey, or chicken. I would go with dark meat if using turkey or chicken.
I don't like mushrooms, what else can I use? Onions are a great choice for this recipe. I have made the gravy with mushrooms, onions, and a mix of both.
Can I freeze these Salisbury steaks? I have never made this as meal prep, but I definitely think you could freeze the patties. Just make them and place them on a parchment or wax paper-lined baking sheet in the freezer. Once they freeze you could layer them with wax paper and put them in a ziplock bag or other airtight freezer container. Then take them out and place them in the refrigerator the day before you plan on making them.
Last thoughts about Keto Salisbury Steaks with Mushroom Gravy
This dish really brings back childhood memories for me.
My Mom wasn't a cook really. We were that typical 60's and 70's family that lived on boxes, cans, and TV dinners. Salisbury steak was hands down my favorite TV dinner. I loved the steak and gravy, the mashed potatoes, and even the green beans. And oh, don't get me started on that little square of apple pie mush that was in the corner.
Did you eat these growing up too?
Once I went keto I really wanted to try to recreate my favorite comfort foods in a low carb version so I didn't feel like I was missing out. No keto FOMO for this girl!
Traditional Salisbury steaks usually contain breadcrumbs as a binder, which can add a LOT of carbs without adding any flavor. They are there as a binder and that is it.
In this recipe, I swapped out crushed pork rinds for the breadcrumbs and that removed 26 grams of carbs right off the bat!
Then there is the gravy. Most gravies use flour, or a cornstarch slurry, to thicken them.
Again, CARBS.
If you haven't discovered the amazingness that is xanthan gum let this recipe introduce you to it! It takes away the carbs but thickens sauces and gravies beautifully. Just be careful. Add a little at a time or your gravy can go from gravy to jelly real quick! That is why I say 1/2 to 1 teaspoon in the recipe. It is all up to you and how you like your gravy.
So grab those ingredients and get this on the table for your family tonight. I know you will love it!!
